How to get the most out of WellHive — and how to reach us when something is not working.

1. Getting started

WellHive is a wellness coaching companion for people who want to take control of their habits, nutrition, training and mindset — on their own or with a practitioner. It works on iOS, Android, and at wellhive.app.

First 60 seconds after install

  1. Sign in with Apple or email + password.
  2. Pick a role: “I’ll explore on my own” (self-coached) or “I have a coach invite”.
  3. Set your 2-3 daily habits, log your first meal, and you are underway.

There is no tutorial to sit through. Every screen has friendly empty states that guide you to the next useful thing.

2. Account & sign-in

Two ways to sign in

  • Email + password — a six-digit code is sent to confirm new accounts.
  • Sign in with Apple — supported on iPhone, iPad and Mac. We never store your Apple ID, only an anonymised identifier.

One account, both apps

Your WellHive account works identically on iOS, Android and the web. Sign in once, and your habits, meals, workouts and messages sync instantly.

Forgot your password?

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email. A reset link arrives within a minute.

3. What’s inside WellHive

Habits & streaks

Pick the actions you want to build into your day. Tap to log, watch streaks grow, and see weekly heatmaps of what is sticking.

Food log & meal plan

Log meals manually, snap a photo for AI estimates (Plus), or follow a prescribed meal plan from your practitioner. The nutrition compare screen shows prescribed vs actual for every day.

Training programmes

Practitioners can assign 4-12 week programmes with exercise videos. Self-coached Plus users can generate their own with our AI workout coach in under a minute.

Measurements & progress

Track up to 10 body measurements. We automatically compute BMI and waist-to-hip ratio using NHS and WHO reference ranges. Overlay weekly weigh-ins and progress photos to see your trend.

Clinical tests

Upload blood panels or scan results. Files stay private by default. Tap the share icon on any document to give your practitioner read access.

Supplements

Track daily intake. Self-add your own routine or follow a practitioner’s prescription. Weekly compliance is charted automatically.

Messages & bookings

Coached users chat with their practitioner and propose session times directly in the app. Replies and counter-proposals arrive as push notifications.

Apple Health & Health Connect

After you opt in, WellHive pulls weight, sleep, steps, resting heart rate and workouts from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). Your practitioner sees the real picture without you logging twice.

4. AI tools & credits

Every AI call is evidence-based and built on guidelines from established bodies (CSCS for strength, Mifflin-St Jeor / Katch-McArdle for energy needs, NHS Eatwell for nutrition).

The three client tools

  • Calculate my macros — age, sex, body metrics, activity level and goal in; calorie target plus protein / carbs / fat / fibre per training and rest day out, with honest reasoning.
  • Generate a recipe — dietary flags (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.), target macros, available ingredients in; full recipe with method and per-serving macros out.
  • Generate a workout programme — goal, split, experience, equipment in; complete 4-week programme with rep ranges and RPE targets out, ready to save and start.

5. Working with a practitioner

Getting connected

If your personal trainer, registered dietitian, therapist or life coach already uses WellHive, they will send you an invite link by email or SMS. Opening it on your phone connects you instantly — no codes to copy. Your practitioner can then assign you training programmes, meal plans, supplement protocols, and message you through the app.

Already using WellHive solo?

You do not lose anything when you connect with a coach later. Your habits, meals, workouts, measurements and photos carry across. Your coach sees only what you have logged since they connected, never your history before.

6. Subscriptions & billing

Plusis £9.99 / month or £89 / year (two months off on annual). Practitioner plans are described on our pricing page.

Managing your subscription

Subscriptions are handled on wellhive.app through Stripe Customer Portal. Tap “Manage on web” from the Billing screen in the app and you will land there with one click.

Portal lets you:

  • View and download invoices
  • Update your payment method
  • Switch between monthly and yearly billing
  • Cancel (remains active until the end of the current period)

Credit top-up packs

Used all your AI calls for the month? Buy a credit pack without upgrading your plan. Packs are available at the billing page. Credits never expire.

Refunds

Within the first 14 days of a new paid subscription you can request a full refund no-questions-asked — email hello@wellhive.app.

7. Privacy & your data

Your data stays in the European Union. Everything you enter is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest. We never sell data. We never share data with advertisers. Clinical test uploads are private by default — you choose document-by-document whether your practitioner sees them.

8. Troubleshooting

The app says sign-in failed

  • Check you have an internet connection.
  • Force-quit the app (swipe up, flick WellHive off-screen) and reopen.
  • If you signed in with Apple and see “Nonces mismatch”, update to the latest TestFlight build — this was fixed in build 10+.

AI generation is slow

Our AI is backed by Claude Sonnet. Macros take 15-20 seconds, recipes 20-30, workout programmes 30-45. If nothing has happened after 60 seconds, you will see a timeout error — try again on a faster network.

Apple Health data is not syncing

  • Settings → Apple Health → Auto-sync health data → toggle on. We do an initial 30-day backfill on first opt-in.
  • On iPhone, open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → WellHive → enable every category you want shared.
  • Still blank? Tap “Having trouble? Tap to diagnose” under the toggle for a detailed report.

Notifications are not arriving

Settings → Reminders → Daily check-in reminder → toggle on. If the toggle will not stick, iOS has blocked WellHive notifications — open Settings app → Notifications → WellHive → Allow.

Found a bug?

Settings → Support → Report a bug. Each approved report earns 2-20 AI credits depending on severity. Critical bugs (crashes, data loss, security) pay 20.

9. Delete your account

Email hello@wellhive.app with the email you signed up with. We process deletion within 72 hours. Your data is hard-deleted from all live systems. Backups are rotated every 30 days; after that window, no trace of your account remains.

You do not need a reason. We will confirm by email when it is done.
